EFI Brussels runs to support AFM-Téléthon

As part of the week of French Lycées around the world organized by the AEFE, EFI Brussels actively supports the AFM-Telethon non-profit association which aims to advance research and allow better support for patients.

We propose to our entire educational community (parents, students and staff) the opportunity to practice a sport as running, walking or hiking. This sporting challenge can be done with the family or alone, starting now until Sunday 6th of december.

Each kilometer traveled can be transformed into a financial donation, we propose to give a value of 2 € per KM. To make your donation go to this page.

Once your kilometers have been covered, send a picture of yourself or your route at the end of the race to contact@efibruxelles.org, and record your kilometers on the following page: kilometers-traveled

All participants will receive a magnificent medal made by EFI students.

The goal is to go together as far as possible in kilometers traveled, so we will turn this collective achievement into donations for the AFM-Telethon.

Let us share our efforts to strengthen patients, families and researchers.

Back to school

Dear Parents,

As per the Belgian government guidelines, we are pleased to inform you that all our pupils can finally come back to school!

From Wednesday 3rd of June, kindergarten students will be expected on the Campus.

Starting Monday 8th of June, all EFI elementary students will be able to return to school, according to the usual schedule before confinement.
The school year will end on Friday 3rd of July for elementary school students.

Of course, everything will be done to comply with adequate health and safety protocols.

We sincerely thank you for your support and your understanding in this exceptional period from which we are finally emerging. We are happy to have been able to accompany your child during this distance school sequence and we thank you for your investment. Without the parents, we would not have been able to carry out all these school and extra-curricular projects.

It is up to us to make the best use of the few weeks that remain to consolidate the educational project of the EFI and end the year with dynamism and happiness.

The start of the new school year in September 2020 will be a new step in the construction of our school, we will be delighted to have you by our side.

Jérôme Gercet,
Head of School EFI Brussels

AEFE Accreditation

We are extremely happy to announce you the accreditation of EFI Brussels by the French Ministry of National Education as a certified school.

EFI therefore becomes a partner establishment of the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE) . Today we are the 2nd approved school in Brussels and the 3rd in Belgium.

There are numerous advantages of this recognition by the network.

We now belong to a network recognized for its pedagogical and teaching qualities, established outside France in 139 countries and composed of 522 schools, with whom we share the same values.

All approved establishments, recognized by both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Education, bear humanist values – tolerance, equality between girls and boys, equal opportunities, intellectual curiosity, promotion of critical thinking … – and allow you to follow an education without interruption, from kindergarten to baccalaureate. Thanks to their membership of a dynamic, attractive, and open international network, they offer a particularly enriching training.

The accreditation and the strategic partnership which is now being formed with the AEFE will allow our school to consolidate its pedagogical and educational project, in close collaboration with the French Embassy in Belgium. Numerous projects are implemented within the network, and EFI students will be able to benefit from it.
This label of partner establishment will also allow us to make ourselves better known and recognized by future families and will be an accelerator of our development. For your children, it is also a security in the construction of their school course, and we are very proud of it.

Accreditation in spring 2020, less than a year after the school was created, attests to the seriousness and relevance of the courses offered within the school. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the teachers and the other members of the team, because this result is collective and required everyone’s mobilization. Your trust has also been of strong value to us in this long process, and we thank you again for that.

Approval allows:

  • The certification of diplomas: the end of “collège” (i.e.: medium high school) certificate and the Baccalaureate diploma by the French Ministry of National Education.
  • Pupils who have been attending at EFI Brussels are on the priority access list in any French schools in the world or in France without having to take an exam.
  • To take the French Baccalaureate under the same conditions as those of students in France.
  • Access to French State scholarships (for French nationals).
  • A quality warrant of the lessons delivered by the school.
  • Respect of French curricula for each discipline, each level of approved education.
  • Educational and administrative monitoring carried out by the French authorities.

EFI Bucharest, which also belongs to the Odyssey network, has been approved as well. We are delighted because this recognition at the group level also allows us to validate our strategy.

In the full respect of safety and hygiene measures, children will be welcomed in small groups, for the continuation of lessons in French and in English.
The whole team will follow a precise protocol, recalling the importance of barrier gesture and measures of social distancing.

The link has never been broken since March, 13, but after this long period of distance learning the whole team is delighted to welcome back its pupils for this particular end of year.
We wish you all the best returning to school!

Educational Continuity at EFI

Since March 13, EFI pupils benefit from the system developed by the management and the teaching team in order to guarantee educational continuity and maintain our learning objectives for all our students.

Every week, the students follow a work plan communicated by the teachers, in French and in English. Through whole-class conferences and individual interviews, the teachers ensure the daily monitoring of each EFI pupils, from kindergarten to primary.

At EFI Brussels, the school project concerns all the actors of the educational community, so we are listening to parents, allowing them to interact with teachers as well as with management.
The strong projects of the year continue, and we have set up artistic, sporting, scientific and cultural activities to keep the link, which you can discover through our social networks.

Today, we even allowed a student who was due to arrive after the holidays to meet her classmates for the first time.

The whole team is mobilizing to get through this complicated period together, pending the next return to school!

Take good care of you all.
The EFI team

Snow Class from January 21 to 28, 2020 – Pelvoux / French Alps

Our pupils from CP to CM1 were the lucky ones to participates at the first snow class of EFI Brussels. This first edition is the starting point for a series of future excursions planned for the coming years.

This year, the snow class held at Pelvoux in the French Alps from January 21 to 28 and is rich in sharing, discovering and having lots of fun.

A great adventure, which we owe to the involvement of the teaching team, to the fine organization of CPAN, and to the invaluable participation of the EFI’students.

Bravo to all, thank you for these wonderful memories !

Tuesday, January 14th – Inauguration of Radio EFI Brussels by Laure GRANDBESANCON.

Thanks to the initiative of one of our pupils’ mother, Nelly Larguier, we have launched an internal radio.

This radio is completely bilingual since the broadcasts are in both French and English. The radio trains students to speak, to investigate, to listen to others and to prepare subjects, with joy and good humor.

To support this beautiful project, we are honored to have Laure GRANDBESANCON as ambassador, journalist at France Inter and creator of an original podcast, Les Odyssées (https://www.franceinter.fr/emissions/les-odyssees), who has just received an award (https://www.radiofrance.fr/presse/france-inter-recompensee-les-odyssees-prix-jeunesse-du-paris-podcast-festival).

Laure GRANDBESANCON will accompany us throughout the project.

We were very happy to welcome her and we thank her warmly for her involvement.
